Beltech Nitro Drop 2
I am looking at two different drop shocks. Part number 8000 will work for a 0-2" drop. Part number 8006 will work for a 2-5" drop.. I lowered my truck exactly 2".
So, which would be the right shock for me?

Re: Beltech Nitro Drop 2
I think either would work fine. I would get the 2-5", just in case you wanted to go lower later. I'm dropped 4-5" in the front with stock shocks and it rides fine with no bottoming out. that's why I think either would work for you.

Re: Beltech Nitro Drop 2
I have no plans to go lower.. If I did that, I would need a different tire and rim combo.. I was thinking the 2-5 shock as well..
Im also going to check the travel of the Bilsteins I have now just to see if they will still work. They still feel real good.

Re: Beltech Nitro Drop 2
I took the 2" rear blocks out and cranked the front torsion bars down 2" on my 2000 GMC Z71 and kept the stock shocks. There is plenty of travel left. I think you should be fine too.

Re: Beltech Nitro Drop 2
I will check the travel on the ones I have and see if I can keep those.. I don't think they are bottoming out.

Re: Beltech Nitro Drop 2
My '96 is dropped 2/4. Up front, stock shocks work without any issues. In the rear of my truck...not so. I used shackles and hangers from DJM. I added upper shock mount relocators from BellTech. That was to restore the angle of the shocks. I thought those would cure a very annoying shock noise and the bad ride. I used Summit Racing sport truck shocks....but not gonna do that, again. I went to an on-line shock vendor and ordered a set of Bilsteins for all four corners. It was what was supposed to fit. After getting them, and finding out differently, I was able to use the Bilsteins up front, but I had to get a pair of BellTech sport truck shocks for the rear. Best thing I could have done.
But, now I have a pair of Bilsteins for the rear that I cannot use unless I get shock extensions for the lower mount. I don't think I want to go that route.
