reproduction bedsides?

I am going to cut my lwb bed floor down and put short fleet sides on. before i buy these, how is there fit (better than repop fenders and doors I hope)? will i need to do a lot of messing with them to get them to look right? is it a lighter gauge steel? who makes the best, Goodmark, Mar-K, ...?

thanks

I bought mine from Chevy Duty (not sure of the manufacturer) and was overall impressed (initially). The metal is not as thick as the originals, but that can be expected. Also, where the front bed panel meets the bed sides at the top, it's shaped a little different than the originals. No big deal to me. However, once I got the bed installed on the frame, I noticed something didn't look quite right. The rail to rail distance is dead on, the tailgate is nice and square, and the inner sides are exactly perpendicular with the bed floor. But when I line the top of the bed with the back of the cab, the driver’s side front lower bed edge seems to tilt inward slightly and the passenger side seems to tilt out slightly. So no matter how I adjust it, the lines are off somewhere. I think I can drill out the spot weld on the front of the bed sides (where they attach to the inners) and adjust them accordingly. So basically if you were to kneel behind the truck and look down the driver’s side of the truck along the lower body line, the bed would appear to be to far to the right and vise versa for the other side, but the top of the bed would be perfectly centered.

So are they worth the money? Well, it depends on what you are starting with. The upside---> rust free. The downside---> not a perfect fit and thinner metal. I only bought mine from Chevy Duty because they are only 20 minutes from my house so I didn't have to pay frieght/shipping charges.

YA, if anyone else can chime in with comments I would appreciate it.

I have been talking with "Ricks" about buying the two bed sides only. I want to make my own structure since I have such a large bridge, and huge tires, it would be easier than trying to replace the sides with the original floor etc.
