Transmission crossmember

I have a TH400 C20. The trans crossmember is unbolted and I can bang it back and forth inside the frame rails but I dont see any way this thing is coming out without cutting the rivets on the xmember.

I mean maybe I could bang the crap out of it diagonally to get it out but then after my frame is all nice and painted Im not beating it back in there.

So hows it supposed to come out?

Re: Transmission crossmember

you are supposed to use a BFH and bang the livin crap out of it to remove it// it is somewhat aided by clamping a 2X4 onon one side of the frame rail to aid in getting it out

Re: Transmission crossmember

Well I have BFH or 2. I see a bent up scratched up pile of trash by the time I get it back in

I may just leave it in and have it blasted with the frame

Re: Transmission crossmember

Mine came out fairly easy by hammering one side out of the frame. Then it just pulled out.
