Gas leak
So between the flanged line and the brass nut fuel drips in the cab of the truck, when I take the fuel cap off the tank shrinks, drip stops, and air escapes, but the kicker is when I blow on the gas cap I can hear the valve open and air rushing through the check valve..... Tried to drill a hole in the check valve but the valve just spins freely, got the cap from napa, is there some kind of special vented cap I need?

Re: Gas leak
I had the same issue recently with a new vented cap. Changed the vented cap out and the issue went away.

Re: Gas leak
There has to be a vent...either the cap or a tank vent.

Re: Gas leak
vented or not if gas is leaking you have a problem the fuel line has probably been overtightened and crushed the flare on fuel line

Re: Gas leak

Re: Gas leak
Driving me crazy, I drilled a hole in the vent of the fuel cap, and it works but will leak a little fuel out the cap..... Tried a new cap pressured up so much I needed a wrench to take it off and it still leaked at the flair, reflaired the fuel line still leaked, put the cap with the hole in the vent again....

Re: Gas leak
Is that steel line just a stub that goes into rubber hose?
I would replace the steel fuel line, preferably 1 piece from the sending unit through the cab floor. Then, use rubber to connect to the steel line along the frame rail. The flare and/or threads might be bad. Replace it. Fuel leaks, especially inside, are not good. |
