Having wiper motor rebuilt

Well I can't find a rebuilt wiper motor for my 64, so I will have mine rebuilt. Hopefully they will do a good job.

O'reilly's and AutoZone both sell them, too. They are not hard to find

I went to Napa. They said there is a shipping charge, and if it does not fit in the truck I will loose the shipping charge. They sell Cardone rebuilt ones. I just got two Cardone from Auto Zone. They will not fit in my 64. The slots were the grommets go in are to small. The screws will not line up to install it in the truck. I don't think they are rebuilt because they did not have numbers on the case like factory ones did. And they are longer too. Mine will cast $195.00 to rebuild, and it has a 2 year warranty. Well it is just money.

Re: Having wiper motor rebuilt

Cardone brand available at O'reilly's and AZ

PN # 40-155 1 speed, $81.99 + $5.00 core
40-154 2 spd w/ 3 terminals(no washer) 49.99 + $5 core
40-155 2 spd w/ 4 terminals(with washer) 63.99 + $5 core

the 40-154 is the one I have in my truck, purchased from my local O'Reilly last fall. Fit perfect, works great and is super quiet.

I got one from O'reilly's. It would not work. The number they gave me was 40-199 Is that the number you have?

Re: Having wiper motor rebuilt

Mine is the 40-154 2 speed without washers, because I have electric washer pump.

Those are the only three numbers that I know should fit.

Re: Having wiper motor rebuilt

A 40-199 fits a 1984 Oldsmobile Firenza- could be why you're having trouble.

I bet someone typo'd the number from a 119 to 199. And when it didn't fit, they just re-ordered the same thing.
I take it you have a single speed without washers?

I made a mistake. They gave me a 40-119. That is a one speed. It wont fit in my truck. It looks like mine, but it won't fit. If the grommet holes were bigger it might work.

Re: Having wiper motor rebuilt

$195 for a rebuild? I would keep on looking. my 61 has small holes like you are saying. I bought new grommets and they won't fit my wiper motor. they were for 64-66 i think. post up some pic's of your motor.

LMC has a motor. They want $129.00 for it. A $24.00 shipping fee. Then $24.00 to return the core. It may not install in my truck. It comes with a 180 day warranty. The rebuild has 2 year warranty. That would be about $177.00 . So for about $20.00 more it might be better. I hope he does a good job.
I already sent it to be rebuilt so I can't send a pic. I will try to post a pic when I get it back.

Here is a pic of what my motor looks like. I believe the pic is a Cardone. It is longer then mine. And the grommets won't go in it. When I put my old grommets in it. I can't get the screws lined up so it won't go go in the truck.
