Re: Smitty's 67 Build
Very impressive work Chris. Keep in touch. Also, Rob, Albert, very nice to see this level of products hitting the market. Been a truck guy for 25 years and have been waiting for this - looking forward to supporting.

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
This past weekend was the GoodGuys Lonestar Nationals. We had a great time, and trucks made a big showing. There were twelve trucks running in the Truck class, with six of those in the No Limit Truck Class Shootout. Congrats to Andy Haliberton on the Shootout win. Three trucks were in the Pro class, Chris Smith, Josh Liesinger, and me. I held the lead all weekend, 65.5-- until the last round when Roger Burman in the Summit Camaro clipped my time by .026 sec. Josh finished sixth, 67.9-- and Chris eighth. 68.8-- Here's the cool part for us. On Sunday we got a chance to drive each others trucks. I rode one lap in the pass seat with Chris, and then drove it. After a one or two minute discussion about the truck, we took to the start line. I eased the truck out pretty lazy and ran the first few corners to get a feel, then started to push it a bit, still pretty conservative, and ran a 69.3--. I was really impressed with the balance, and feel. Both Chris and I agreed I could run a 66 or 67 easy. After some talk about driving technique, Chris made a few more runs, and put down a 67.4--, (this would have been fourth overall on sat) - And, it's on air! Super fun to drive, bad ass truck. Can't wait for Scottsdale and the big Shootout.

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Texas was a great event! It was great meeting some of the guys off the board. On a performance note. The truck is really coming around. After some tuning with Rob and some setup changes. We kept gaining on the clock. Me and Rob shared our trucks with each other to help us both gain info for tuning and driving styles. It is a very unsettling feeling sitting in your passenger seat but also very big respect factor with each other to hand the keys over and say go fast as you can driving. Rob is a great wheel man and I learned a new driving style from him. A few things to point out. 1 The trucks are running as fast or faster then the pro cars. 2 They all have No-Limit parts wrapped in Ride Tech Shocks. 3 My truck is super Fast on AIR YES AIR Ride Rob and Jimi Day both said the same thing they would not have known it wasn't on coils if they didn't know it already. P.S I have All NO-Limit parts on sale 10% off There are new videos on my facebook. |

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
I have a couple of question
1) what gear ratio are you running and have you changed it from when you first started your build 2) you are running 35 spline axle, what size screw in wheel studs are you using 3) I assume you are using a spool 4) this thread needed a bump for just being cool

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
4:10 on the gears 35 spline axles 1/2 studs. No it does not have a spool. It is a wavetrac posi with 2012 corvette bearings making it a floater. No brake knock back with this setup.

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
Here's some info just for comparison. I run a 3.31 at most tracks. But, my C10 has a quickchange, and I'm pretty fast at gear swaps. With a 3.31 I'd run most short tracks in 1rst gear, This yields a 9.56 net final. In Texas, I needed a little more leg, so, with what I had, I swapped to a 4.67 gear, and ran in 2nd gear, for a 8.75 net final. a little less than a 10% change. I have a floating axle as well, oval track style, with gun drilled 31 spline axles. With floaters, half of the axle load is gone, so giant axles aren't needed. I use a "platinum drive" style posi, it's gears and springs, no clutches. Chris's rear axle is on the leading edge, but this set up is now available and isn't too pricey. As the brakes systems for floaters get better, and the cost comes down, you will see more and more of them in builds. We now offer floating rear axle 9" rears on our Big-10 chassis for only $100 upgrade. Once you use one, you'll never go back.

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
If it's for sale that means you already have plans of what's next.
P.S. Rob, like the new site

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
As you have heard time and time again.....your truck is amazing!!!!!! Just curious what specs your wheels are and
If you can get better deals on forge line wheels then what the site says at 1500 a wheel that will take me a while to save up for lol Again amazing job!!!!

Re: Smitty's 67 Build
Yes I have better pricing on the wheels. I can spec them per truck based on what parts you have.
