Re: 86 shortbed
Wow you have a nice truck. The rims will set it off too. Good luck.

Re: 86 shortbed
Well I gotta donor truck this weekend for free (father in law owns wrecker business) it's a 07 2wd 6.0 lq4/80e. Only bad thing is that it has 211,xxx miles on it. I only plan on doing cam, intake, and stall as far as mods go. I'm gonna take it down to the short block and clean it up real good and put all new gaskets. Does anybody think I should rebuild the bottom end?

Re: 86 shortbed
Well got the motor and trans pulled out of the donor truck Saturday. The tranny has a gm parts sticker on it and it's much cleaner than the engine. Looked it up online and it's a goodwrench reman! Got some action shots pulling the motor in the rain. We got 3 inches of it that day. As soon as we pulled the intake it started sprinkling. Took the engine down to short block, the valley was clean, under the valve covers zero sludge, cylinder walls still have cross hatch pattern on them. Gonna call some machine shops tomorrow and see what they will charge to do new cam, main, and rod bearings. (If everything checks out)

Re: 86 shortbed

Re: 86 shortbed
Nope bolted right up! I think a 295 is just about the max width you can run as far as the tires go. I read on here a guy was using 305's but they would rub if the axle articulated up on one side.
