Need help replacing window regulator

I'm trying to replace the drivers side window regulator now in my 1971 c10. I've read a bunch of threads but all of them instructed to lower the window first to start. My window is stuck all the way up. What would be the best way to go forward? My door panel is off ready to go

Any help would be appreciated. I hate not having a driver window that rolls down

The track at lower edge of glass has notches where the nylon wheels of regulator have to pop out. Try pulling down on cross arms and cranking handle at same time to wiggle it down to required height

This window is jammed shut like the previous owner never wanted it to open.

The part that the window handle pops on to just spins freely without engaging the teeth. I can't get anything to budge, the window has no play at all.

You could cut the cross arms of the regulator and remove a piece at a time. It's garbage anyways

Put a vice grip were the handle goes, use generous amounts of your favorite penetrating oil. Look and see if you can find were it is binding. Turn regulator and pull down on glass.

If the handle just spins you're going to have to replace regulator.

On a stuck window I believe you can take all the screws out that hold the regulator to the door till it all comes loose. Then you can figure out what has got it stuck.

Re: Need help replacing window regulator

I'll try more Saturday on my day off. All the screws for the regulator are already out. I tried the vice grips where the window knob goes but this regulator is screwed. I'm going to spray everything with penetrating oil and hopefully not break the window in frustration.
