chevy vrs gmc 4x4
I know they are different grills Butt what about things like brakes, suspension, leaf springs, ball joints, brackets ect. The reason I ask is im redoing a chevy 4x4 and looking at a gmc 4x4 as a frame donor as well as other parts. Its an ac truck which i could use all the brackets and stuff necessary on my chevy if they are the same.

Re: chevy vrs gmc 4x4
Other than body components, the other parts are the same with the exception of the engine in the '67s. I think the '67 GMCs may have still used the 305 V6 engine as the base engine, so some brackets would have likely been different. Might have had different front spings too due to the heavier weight of the V6.

V6 ran through '69,K/20s (you didn't specify which 4wd) use Dana 60 rear/Chevy HO52. Other than that it's same same choo-choo train.

Good comment on the rear diffs for the 20 series! Did the Dana 60 and HO52use similar spring perches and springs then? Same driveshafts? Are they direct replacement/bolt-ins for each other?

Not 100% positive on the driveshaft, but the rears interchange.I'll be swapping an HO52 in my '72 K2500 sometime in the future.

Re: chevy vrs gmc 4x4
Thank's for the info every one. I forgot to mention the chevy is 71 k10 the gmc is a 72 10 series 4x4. I was crawling around under the gmc looking at everything and noticed the disc brake dust shields are different. the chevy has the stamped steel kind that I'm familiar with, butt the gmc is completely different looking. it heavy steel almost like cast. sorry don't have any pics. anybody have any thoughts on this. could it possibly be newer parts on it like 73-87. im not familiar with those models.

Re: chevy vrs gmc 4x4
Could be a different axle or just backing plates. The trucks got the same parts at the factory
