Question Gas guage only registers 1/4 full

Installed new fuel tank sender, hoping to fix the 1/4 tank thing.
Nope still only 1/4 after filling to the top.
Do I need to bend with the the float rod or could the problem be the guage?
The guage doese move down after about 2 gallons are used but there it sits at
the 1/4 mark.
Help !

Remove the ground from the sending unit and turn the key on. The gauge should go past full about the 3 o clock position. If it does not, I would suspect the gauge is sticking and won't move past the 1/4 mark.

It seems odd to me that you changed the sending unit to correct the problem and still have the same problem. I would not bet on the float being in the wrong position. It is possible but not likely.

Let me know if you need a gauge. I have some in my inventory.

Thank you,
Tom

Tbone thanks for fast reply, I'll do that ground disconnect and get back.

Do you have a 12V test light or a DVOM? Have you checked to see if you have power to the gauge? If the gauge is not doing anything at all then it is most likely not getting power to the gauge. Check for power right on the gauge studs with the key in the run position but not have the engine started. Also check for a burn spot on the printed circuit board on the back of your cluster.
