Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
Anyone using aftermarket shoulder belts with stock seats in a Suburban ? We have 5 kids with us at times and booster seats need shoulder belts to be used properly. That leave our little guys with just a lap bet. Any input would be great.
Mario

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
I don't have them, but I have heard that S-10 shoulder belts work well in the 67-72 trucks.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
Mario, I'm using the 88-98 style seat belts and for just a little modification they appear to work great.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
Mario, were you able to figure anything out here. I just acquired a project and my wife and three daughters will be riding in it, with use of boosters. I was hoping as well to to utilize shoulder belts in the middle and rear seats as well. If you were able to find something if you could post pictures on how you mounted the rear shoulder belts that would be great. If I find something I will do the same. Thx

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
The seat belts from Morris Classic Concepts look nice but it would be over $1000.00 to belt up the burb. I am interested in the 1988-98 belts option. I am actually thinking of having 1967 belts re-webbed into factory shoulder setup. If I am going to be spending $1000. I have 6 passenger's worth of 67 belts here...
I will post picture of whatever I end up doing.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
Check out Wesco performance. They have some retractable belts, and you can get the GM logo in the buckles. Seems like it was about $85 per setup in an optional color when I was looking for my crewcab. I remember about $450 for 4 retractable shoulder harnesses and 2 lap belts shipped.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
Mario, the 88-98 seat belts that I have need a spacer, but I believe they will work. The bolt hole is two inches taller than the bottom of the plastic on the belt. I just used a 2 inch piece of square tubing and a longer Grade 8 bolt to go to the floor.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
The second row shoulder belt system from the late square body Suburban fits very well size wise with just minor mods since they bolt to a flat floor where our floors are slightly angled. I don't know what year they started for sure but I know 1989-91 have the shoulder belts and the 1986 has second row lap belts.
The bolts in the shoulder belt anchor on the pillar are a different thread pattern so this will have to be addressed as well. I just found some grade-8 bolts of the right thread pattern and built some tube spacers & heavy flat washers to make them work right. Putting in a heavier reinforcement with the newer large bolt thread pattern would probably be a better idea and I may do that in the end on mine since I need to add the C-pillar reinforcements anyway. On your second row there isn't a factory shoulder belt anchor reinforcement in the C-pillar like there is for the front seats in the B-pillar so something will have to be added so the anchor bolts don't pull out. I have them for my 67 but haven't had the time to build the angled spacers yet to give you any pictures. Hopefully this spring if it ever stops snowing.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
I put in a 4 point harness on the rear seat for my kid. Got a pair of them off of ebay for $40 and safer than a 3 point.

Re: Aftermarket shoulder belts ?
I got my shoulder belts for my 66 from these folks. http://www.andoverrestraints.com/ Nice stuff and they offer the correct type of retracter for a child seat or booster.
