Carb fixed.

I had the carb rebuilt. When I started the truck the carb leaked around the front of the top section. I sent it back and the shop heated the top, and straightened it. I put it on today , and it is Ok. Cool beans. Now to try , and remove the tank. I hate the thought of that.

Tank in cab or frame mounted? Removing my in cab tank was perrty simple...maybe cause I'm big?

The tank is in the cab. Do you know the best procedure to remove , and install it? It is about empty now. That was easy.

Well since I am a redneck..no. lol! I just pulled the straps off....took the fuel cap off...Pick up the tank on the passenger end..and in a few good pulls pulled the entire assembly off(Including filler neck while still on tank)....Not to mention I did this with 15 gallons of fuel in the tank...mind you..THAT was heavy. LOL!

I am not a red neck either. I am a hill billy. Born in Arkansas. Do you mark the tank neck, and filler neck ,and then put it together so it is the same length, and then put the grommet on the truck, and then slide it thru the grommet? Getting it in will be the hard thing to do.

When I got the new tank I put the old filler neck assembly on prior to installing. No I didn't mark it..I was fairly pressed for time. I stuck the tip of the filler neck in the grommet hole(On the cab hole) and use a variety of muscle to shove it through. Not the best way but it sure was easier then trying to push the filler neck on while the tank was installed..for me anyway. So to sum up...I push the tank in a forward/downward way causing the filler neck to go up through the hole and while doing that..pushing towards the drivers side of the cab to. So not to hard...since your getting a new tank I would recommend a new filler assembly. That way you can install the tank..then push the filler tube down the neck of the tank instead of the way I did it. I'm a red neck..hill billy..when it comes to stuff like this. LOL! I usually find the hard way( Or craziest) way to do it without knowing. I know that if I was being videoed; You would have been on your belly laughing.

Thanks. I will have my tank cleaned I think. I don't know who sells a good tank. One guy said he had to bend the pick up tube in the sender to get it to go in.

I bought my tank from Classic Parts and it fit fine. There was a slight mod I had to do..Bend something..don't have a name. No it wasn't the filler neck. Great quality tank though. And I got my new sending unit from The Truck and Car shop. All fit fine. But getting your tank cleaned is probably cheapest. Hope all works for ya. I am going to be changing to a rear frame mounted tank...more weight on the rear tires and takes the gas smell outta the cab.

I got the tank out. I may have it cleaned. Here is a pic of the clamp that was on the filler hose. I may use it again.

nice tower clamp, i just paid a guy $20 for 2 originals. i did see them at a tractor supply place for $7 a piece plus shipping so i guess since mine are oem $20 isnt bad
