1973 short bed K10 camper load rating
I have a 73 short bed k10, stock 350,350 trans with stock front leafs and and stock rear leafs with some type do helper add a leaf. I would like to get a camper. The campers that I seem to like weigh in at 1800 - 2300 lbs. I figure to load another 500 lbs plus of crap as well as pull 800 to 1000 lbs of motorcycle/trailer. Truck is very solid. When I got the truck it had a old beat up water logged "6pac" camper in it. Truck did not know it was back there. Couldn't get the weight on it before the junk man got it. What would you safely put in the back of that truck? Looking at the Lance 865.

Re: 1973 short bed K10 camper load rating
thats a lot of camper for a 1/2 ton, the 865 weighs around 17-1800lbs. the truck can prob physically handle the weight, but what about the rest of the truck, brakes, etc.
an old 6pac only weighs about 12-1400 lbs. if your set on a camper on a half ton, maybe look at a pop up camper or something a little lighter. my 8 ft Travelmate weighs 1700, after it's loaded, around 2500lbs. a 3/4 or 1 ton is a much better choice |
