The description says it's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and was purchased back in 1990 and stored away. In other words, it's what most folks consider an NOS (New Old Stock) GM part. And it seems like prices for NOS parts for these trucks (especially on ebay) have been going through the roof lately.

Yes, if you can find a new / reproduction tailgate band without an emblem, the GMC (or Chevrolet as the case may be) emblem can be removed from the old band and transferred over to the new one. I think most of those emblems have mounting studs that are secured with nuts on the back side of the tailgate band.
