Time for a new fuel tank?
I've got a fuel tank that has been sitting with gas in it for some time and has a lot of gunk built up to the line where gas was sitting. It doesn't "appear" to be leaking but after cleaning who knows.
Should I even attempt to clean it or just plan on getting a new tank? Here's a picture of the inside of the tank. Thanks, Travis. |

Re: Time for a new fuel tank?
You could try ,hard to clean really good because of the baffle. Try a radiator shop to do it then seal it with a tank kit.

Re: Time for a new fuel tank?
You can get a new tank with mounting hardware and sending unit for around $200.

The poly tanks are available also for about $200 with a new pickup/sending unit.

Re: Time for a new fuel tank?
Yep, I saw that several places sell the kit for around $200 not including shipping. I asked a radiator shop about it and he recommended going with a new one.
Next question... Poly or steel? I've heard several opinions about which is better. |

Re: Time for a new fuel tank?
Save the goose neck off your old tank, might come in handy. New 1's don't come with it.

Re: Time for a new fuel tank?
Thanks for the reminder. I've seen that most of the new tanks come with a shorter generic neck.
