Something is NOT right with these pictures...

I know that it was '71 or '72 before the windshield mounted rear view mirrors were supposed to be factory installed, but the photos here show my '69 had one. There are no holes in the headliner panel for a mirror mount, but there may be some tiny pilot indentations for them in the surface rust specks. Any explanations? Maybe the rear view mount didn't use holes in the panel and the windshield was a replacement?

69 was an option for a rear view mirror. I would say your truck didn't have one and someone added the windshield mounted one. (which started in 72)

Re: Something is NOT right with these pictures...

Sure enough! Some of the pickups pictured in my '69 brochure have no inside rear view mirrors and only outside ones are listed as standard. I'm thinking some of the '69 GM cars had them glued on the windshields. I wonder if the one here in the '69 GMC accessory brochure is one of those? it's definitely cushioned and looks identical to the one that was in my '72 Impala.

My '67 C-30 only got 1 sunvisor. There are indentions for the mirror and the passenger side sunvisor, but there are no holes.

Re: Something is NOT right with these pictures...

I think it was an option to have a passenger side sunviser. My 67 has the same indentations.

Re: Something is NOT right with these pictures...

My '61 Corvair has no sunvisor- or cigarette lighter. It's a 700- the top line for wagons that year- but the visor and lighter and outside rear view mirror were part of a "Convenience Group" option.

Re: Something is NOT right with these pictures...

My 69 did not have one. As stated above it was an option. I added a windshield mount 72 mirror in 1972. Regarding visors in cars, Corvettes didn't have them until 1959... not even as an option.
