My daughters 72'

This is my daughters 72' SWB C10. I decided to go with a wrap instead of a paint job. She picked the color which is called Bright Blue Metallic (made by Avery). I was hoping she would go with a white top and blue body, but she wanted to go a solid color all around. It's HER truck, so it will be all blue.

I had the truck sanded by a local high school ROP class. They did an awesome job and I would use them again if I need work done in the future. The wrap is being done by Vinyl-Ink in Fremont.

I checked on it today and was very happy on how it looked so far and can't wait for the finished project. The next step after the wrap will be a 4/6 Early Classics drop kit. I will post the finished pics some time after I get it back, which i'm hoping will be next Wednesday.

Thanks for the compliments..I can't wait to get the truck back..

I went with a wrap because it made more sense in the long run. The truck is my daughters FOR NOW. When she decides to move on to something different, I get the truck back (if she decides to keep it, oh well). The wrap gives me an option to change to a different wrap color, or go to paint. If the wrap gets a scratch in it (this is a high school truck) it's cheaper to fix the wrap panel than to re-paint the damage.

The Avery vinyl wrap is guaranteed between 3 to 5 years. If you take care of it, it will last 5 to 7 years. You wash and wax it like paint.

And lastly, it was something different. I haven't come across a wrapped 67-72 C10 yet .

I forgot, the cost to paint vs. wrap. If I went with a Maaco paint job it would be around 2500 to 3500, and I would have had to remove all the badges, bumpers etc... The wrap is $2200 and they (Vinyl-Ink) did all the prep except the sanding that needed to be done.

Thanks 70 CST. My buddy saw the truck yesterday while it was still being wrapped and he was impressed. Can't wait to get it back and start the planning for the 4/6 drop

Being from RUSTY NH.. and never heard of wrapping.. i wonder how it would hold up to our nasty climate. I wonder if corrosion would start between the metal and wrap? I would think it looks very durable though.Hope to find out more about it since I will be doing my exterior this summer. Thanks for the post.

Hey scamper,

The vehicle needs to be prepped just like it would be for paint, so you need a good surface to wrap a vehicle. Check out Avery and the 3M websites for vinyl car wraps. I hope this short answer helps you out.
