67 4 speed torqe capabilities ?
Hey guys got another , 67 c10 factory 283 with a 4-speed , I guess toploader , what type of torqe will it indure , guy said its a grany gear trany , not in my possesion yet , will it take the 500ftlbs my 383 makes ? , or will it granade on me ?

No, but not gonna be much fun to drive either with that gradma low it is pretty useless, unless you are pulling up stumps or anything that isn't tied down on every end. At about 15 MPH you will be past wound out and she'll be screaming for a shift. If you make it that far some want to be shifted before then

It should be the SM420. It's a truck transmission. It should handle the torque for any truck duties. As far as raging burnouts or powershifting, I would say not.

the sm420 was even installed in big school busses in the day so they are tuff. But no way are they a fun tranny unless you like 4x4ing and going slow. But I like that to.
