C30 Crew cab question

I picked up a decent 3/4 ton crew cab and wanted to lower it with 5x5 wheels in place of the 8 lugs.

Can I swap out the front engine crossmember w/ a 1/2 ton 73-87 as long as I use all the steering components (center link/pitman/idler/tie rods)?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Re: C30 Crew cab question

You probably can just do the lower arms, spindles, and brakes. I think. Some one else will chime in

Yes.
Early Classics also make a 3/4-ton to 1/2-ton conversion spindle.
This allows you to bolt a 1/2-ton rotor and caliper to your existing a-arms and steering.
Super easy swap for the front.
No crossmember to remove.
No steering to change.
That's the way I would do it!
Especially since you want to lower it anyway.

Yes, 1/2 ton x-members will swap directly in place of the C20/30 stuff or you can keep the x-member in place & just swap the parts to the existing x-member.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Yep.
They call them 71-87 conversion spindles.
(plus they have two other spindles for the older model C20's)
But we all know they will work all the way up to the 1991 "square body" 3/4 tons and 1-tons.
And they are only $299 from ECE.

Re: C30 Crew cab question

I have a c30 that I plan on making 5 lug too. The ECE c20 conversion spindle will work on 1 tons?
