thats the combo i went with on my 84 with 35's...5.3 with 4l60e tranny....dont want that overdrive kicking in and out all the time

Yeah thats a common problem with the 60e's. My 97 will do it on the highway. When crusin at highway speed all you have to do is let up off the gas and hit it again and it shifts, well it at least unlocks the converter and locks up again.

Usually a general purpose driver will do well between 2000-2400 for a stock to modest motor at 70mph but figure out what your own sweet spot is..
