What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

The 84 K30 I have, the inner fenders and at least the top of the core support are painted almost a machine gray. I have only been in the truck just a few times since purchasing it so I am not sure if the whole core support is gray or just the top part. As far as I know this is an all original truck. It still has the SPID stickers on the fenders. These pics don't show it real well but you can tell they are gray. The AC bracket is also gray. I don't have a good pic of the core support and radiator cover bracket.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

It was bugging me so I had to go out and take a few pics. This is the only one I have seen in gray. All the others I have seen are black but since this is supposed to be an original truck I thought I better ask.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

They look like replacement parts after a front end collision.
And...Why is the spid glued to the inner fender?
All three of my squares are original condition trucks with no modifications and all of those parts are semi-flat black.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

What plant was this truck built in?

Any that I remember were flat/semigloss black (ELPO) - but there could be some plant to plant differences.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

I have seen the spid on the inner fender on a few trucks, different years. I have never seen gray inner fenders or a radiator support until now.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

I seem to recall that there was some plant-to-plant variation, depending on the paint processes they had in place.

Most plants (Flint, Oshawa, Pontiac East, Fort Wayne) were most certainly eggshell black. Janesville and Fremont may have been gray; I don't remember what St Louis was.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

I find the Duplicolor Low Gloss Black is great match to factory's low sheen. Flat isn't right and stains up. Gloss is downright tacky. Even semi-gloss isn't quite right. Factory under hood black shines when clean and new, just not much

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

Never seen the gray before. The black is a Satin, not flat or semi-gloss. Semi-gloss is too shiney and flat is too dull. There is a "Trim Black" that looks pretty close to original.

Re: What was the factory color for core support and inner fenders.

There is an 83 K10 short box sitting in my garage right now getting some work done that has the exact same color gray inners and core as the OP's pictures. It appears to be an Ontario built truck, and the current owner is 98% certain the parts are all original. I knew the original owner, and I agree.
