interior rug dye

has anyone tried to change or atleast freshen up the color of their rug by using the spray can interior dye/paint? does it work o.k.? Thanks..

Sprayed mine with, flat black primer (not carpet paint, just rattle can primer). Worked ok but it does wear off in the foot wells. Floor mats would help,, but I guess I dont care enough about my current carpet to even bother.

I restored a '70 Camaro awhile back. I found some real nice used carpet but it was tan and I was going with black interior. Might sound crazy but I used RIT dye and it turned out perfect. I figure other colors would dye good too, I've only used the black though. I owned it for three years and it still looked good when I sold it.
