67 Box Side removal help!

Hello everyone!

I'm restoring a 71 C10. It has a box on it from a 67 C10. So i guess this question is really related to the 67 box.

Its a fleetside. The box sides are dented to hell and beaten up pretty bad. Body shop quote to pull the dents and get it straight was more expensive than just getting a new box side from LMC Truck. So I think ill be getting new sides

So my questions are as follows:

1) i see you can get buy the entire box side from LMC (and other retailers) Does anyone know if the box side is bolt on? Or will i be welding it? It does look bolt on from what I can tell but im not 100% sure. Anyone know?

2) Because my truck is a 71 Id love to get the 71 box sides so I can have that side signal light which my box currently doesnt have. Anyone know if the 71 box side will line up and fit?

Any help or advice anyone has would be VERY much appreciated

thank you!

Re: 67 Box Side removal help!

The bed sides (fleetside) are bolted on but it should have one or two small welds where the rear pillars (tail light) meets the rear cross member (floor support).

I had better luck just tightening the carriage bolts until they broke. The other bolts I just sprayed with PB Blaster.

That link was super helpful thank you so much!

You dont happen to know if I grab the side for a 71 if it'll fit? Id really like to be able to have that side signal light

I wouldnt be surprised if the bed is universal if the box side would fit

Just my opinion though

Re: 67 Box Side removal help!

Yes they are interchangeable between 67-72. The side marker light hole is the only difference.

Re: 67 Box Side removal help!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm loving this place. Im also really enjoying seeing everyone else's builds. I hope i can get mine looking half as good as some of the trucks here. The body is really in rough shape right now
