I rember that episode....love it...run of the mill truck engine. hahaha.... don't think 325-350 hp will be any issue. Only problem is that a 427 gen IV is going in the stepside...might have to make the 325-350hp goal more like 350-375hp. Be interesting to see how it'll run against the 427. One will be auto and one manual, both same rear ends and tires.

Anyone any help on the engine mount bolt sizes? I think the engine/mount bolts are 3/8" x 1" coarse and the perch/frame bolts are 7/16" x 1 1/4" coarse. What about the mount to perch center bolt?

I think they are 7/16" also....maybe 1" or 1 1/4" length coarse?

And one more question for the pros....I have a manual trans driveshaft....can the front yoke be swapped for the powerglide trans....and will it need to be shortened? Looks to me that auto trans will be longer than the manual....I don't pick up the engine/trans until tomorrow, so no way to measure the overall length.

Is the trans a 58 also? I would find a 62 up alum one insted of the cast iron 58

I've always used 3/8-16 x 1" or 1.25" bolts for the brackets (Perches) to the frame and crossmember. The bolt from the bracket (perch) to the engine mount is 7/16-14 x ~1.25". There is supposed to be a heavy large washer between the head and the bracket.
