Dean,
Great work on your K20's but this is too weird. Not you or your trucks but I have 2 K10 shortboxes. The colors of my two trucks are . . . one is Blue and White and the other was a factory Green and White. (It has an Orange and White scheme on it now. That will go as soon as I have the money to restore it.) The only thing that would be more weird is if you had an all Red K20 as I have another K10 that the original color was red. (It is primer now.) Here is a couple of pics. (These have been on the board before.) Doug |

Oh man they always look so great right out of the spary booth. Nice paint job on it.
Q: How do you paint the hood when it is at chest height. I see the step stool down by the tire, but that is a lot of leaning to spray the hood. That would be a shame to spray a bed-liner in the box. It's too nice of shape to do that to. If those are stock chevy rims and you want to sell them, I might be interested in them. Have fun with it!

Thank you for the compliments. I really like Dean's green and white truck. Those colors look great together. It looks like Dean's approach to painting the two tone scheme was different than the painter on my blue and white truck. The guy who painted my truck painted the entire truck white and then painted the blue over the top of the white base prior to applying the clear coat. Not sure why he did it that way. We also painted everything when it was off the frame including the hood. Easier to paint, buff and polish but also makes the assembly process more difficult.
Ray, there have been a couple of blue/white long boxes for sale over here on the west coast over the past couple of years in various conditions (restored to needing restoration). You need to move to the left coast to find a truck where the seem more plentiful! |

Dean, thanks for the pics, that truck is awesome and will only continue to get better with age. 71Super's blue one is a diamond too. He came to the house and picked up some wheels one time. Its a gorgeous restoration. Hope my Blazer turns out half as well as both of those. Jeff.

I probably missed some questions lately as I have been camping out in the garage, so ask again if I missed them.
They do make bed mount pads. You can get them from several of the vendors. They are nothing more than square rubber pads with a hole in the center. I did use a stool to paint the hood and top of the truck. I trimmed out the truck with all of the pieces apart, but I painted the truck assembled because the green is a heavy metallic paint. You can get into a mess painting metallic paints in pieces. You could paint the white or green first. It doesn't really matter. I like to lay down a slick enough paint job in the booth so I don't have to sand and buff the final paint. That just reduces the life of your paint anyway. Sometimes you have to though depending on the job. I did not touch the paint on this truck after if came out of the booth. |

Love those trucks Doug. I don't currently have a red one...lol. Unless you count the misc red sheetmetal pieces that I have. Looks like my blue one may be a little lighter than yours??
