Np205 Round bolt pattern case ?
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question, so if not, let me know and I will move it.
What is a Np205 transfer case with the round bolt pattern worth assuming it is in working condition. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Np205 Round bolt pattern case ?
around here they can be found from 100$ in private classified adds like craigslist to 300$ in Junk yard that they know what they have.even tough we are very far away the game must be pretty much alike. that beeing said a round patern is from 1985 and up but it has the long 32 splines input shaft if it comes from a th400. supossely they do not fit right on the nv4500(if that is your goal from your other tread) unless you change the input shat for a smaller one from an earlier figure 8-bolts patern np205
ps- the nv4500 i got came from a gaz engine so there is no pressed on tail shaft dampener so im curius to see if the long input shaft would fit . i have not yet began my swap so i don not know |

Re: Np205 Round bolt pattern case ?
The case is the only thing that is special about them. internally, they are just a 205. IMO they are worth 300 ish. ive seen pull outs as high as 500. that is not worth it in my opinion, unless you just have to have it.
when shopping keep in mind that to adapt it to the NV4500 it needs the earlier style shorter input installed(tear the whole case down) or an AA adapter. the AA adapter is 70 bucks or so. the input gear is in the area of 120$. if you go the short input gear and no adapter route, the tail housing of the 4500 will need some clearance for shift rails and bearing retainer bolts. also i would guess that the majority of the round pattern cases are slip yoke rear. depending on your use and opinion of slip yokes that may need swapped for a fixed yoke rear. that is a cost you may have to factor in as well. if you look for a case that was in a crew cab, it will already have a fixed rear. I sold a case to a member a while back that was slip yoke rear and long input. both of which needed changed for his application. i sold it for 250$, and felt it was a fair deal for myself and him. to a total stranger i might have priced it at 300$. if you score one for less than that, you have done some good scrounging. |

yep around almost nobody builds or modifiy their cars. even less old trucks. its just not popular. 2 years ago i sold... should i say gave away a 77 ford fixed yoke , 32 splines front drive shaft output. i had it for sale for 4 years on classifeids adds for damn cheap. now i would have used it but its always like that.

Old stuff is too rusty out there to bother with for the most part. I heard in the maritines it's almost unheard of too see a car older than 10 years old because of the salt and the rust check

Re: Np205 Round bolt pattern case ?
I bought a round pattern 205 with a fixed rear yoke about three years ago for $200. I just bought the short input gear from ORD. I was planning on keeping the long input gear in case I ever decide to put an L480E auto. in the truck.

Re: Np205 Round bolt pattern case ?
I am looking for a round pattern 205 to bolt to my 6l80e and they are hard to find around here the last one I found was in Texas and the fedex guy broke it loading it and the deal was over since the case was cracked where the input bearing sits.

Output/mainshaft of NV-4500 only differs by 2WD/4WD, those without damper have a "spacer" installed. Kid you not, that is what GM calls it in the parts catalog.
