1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
Where is the location to the Wiper Motor location?, I can't seem to find mine anywhere..Also did the Wipers come with a spray nozzle things because how could you spray water without a Windshield wiper fluid if so what do the Originals look like?
I went to see if my wipers would work and they don't? Where does the Brake light wire ground to?

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
The motor should be up under the dash. Grab your wiper arms and if they both move, you have a vacuum wiper motor - run off a hose from the intake manifold through the firewall and under the dash. It will work only (and usually not very good) if the motor is running and it has vacuum to draw from. If you grab the arm and it doesn't move, you should then have the optional electric wipers. It's really not a difficult upgrade if you have vacuum wipers. Look in the bigger trucks - 1 1/2 ton or bigger as for some reason they more often than not have electric wipers. There are also a number of aftermarket options.

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
My pictures in the other wiper thread you posted in show the wiper motor location. It is up high inside the dash center. If you have a radio and defroster hoses it can be hard to see. Follow the switch cable...

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
Here are two pictures, one lying on my back looking up, one from the side. I added notes for orientation. If the factory radio is installed you may not be able to see or access the motor, the stock radios are huge.

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
I replaced the fuses to see if they'd work when I turned the knob, and nothing happened
Could it be the motor went bad?

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
I thought you said in another thread you got it to work? I can think of three things. 1) the dash knob has a cable that mechanically moves a slide switch on the motor. If the knob or slide is gummed up no go. 2) Do you have good power to the motor? According to the wiring diagram the brown wire comes from the same side of the firewall resistor as the brown wire from the ignition switch. I seem to remember in your VR photos the VR and resistor had been relocated to the inner fender panel, maybe they did not connect the wiper back up. It does not need to get power from there, any 12v source will work. 3) Is the motor ground good? It grounds thru the housing and mounting screws to the cab. I doubt that is the problem.

Re: 1959 Gmc Wiper Motor and other Q's
on the GMC's the VR is on the inner fender
If its grounded, the PO spray painted the inside and the grounds look to be a little painted over? could that screw things up? and if so ill take a wire brush to it the blower only works on low, the resistor is bad I know
