'64 Deluxe Seat
How hard is it to get a hold of a 64 C10 Deluxe seat and what would one be worth?
I don't mind if I have to get it rebuilt and recovered. Did the deluxe seat use the same frame as a standard seat? My truck has had a early 90's F150 seat welded to the original 64 seat frame. It's actually a very comfortable seat but it sits way to high and I'd much rather have a original looking seat than what's in it currently. Attached is a picture of my current seat and then the correct styled deluxe seat. |

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
I just redid my seat from standard to deluxe. My upholsterer was able to add the foam to my standard seat. Mines a 63 though, but I supplied materials and $300 for labor. I ordered the fabric from SMS auto fabrics and got the vinyl locally. I know its a different year, but same process and I hope it helps some.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
The seat frame is different on the custom seat than the standard seat.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
we used a factory custom seat cover as a template. they will work on the standard seats if you use the correct height foam in them.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
I don't know personally.....but I do know that we used my factory 63 standard bench seat and a factory 63 deluxe seat cover as a template....added the foam and it worked perfectly.....see pic above.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
Keith....Your seat base looks very similar to mine. There are some minor differences, but yours is also a 66 as opposed to my 63.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
From my understanding you could pick and choose what options you wanted so theres no such thing as a standard custom cab option its all just a mish mash of what the purchaser wanted or could afford at the time. My truck could have been a poverty pack when it left the factory but now its fitted with some very nice options.
Theres definately some good information coming out but I didn't relise how little info there is on the factory correct seats. Theres very few of these trucks in australia so I have pay someone to find me a seat in the US or rebuild one and have it shipped. Although a parts hunting trip back to the US does sound appealing. |

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
I had a custom comfort seat in my GMC. I now have a standard seat that has been reupholstered. the custom seat has less springs and more foam. the standard seat has more springs and almost no foam. this is height wise.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
forgot to add this is the custom comfort seat and you can see not so much springs and a lot of foam. this seat was a lot more comfortable than the standard seat I have now.

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
Quote:
We added 2" of soft foam and 2" of dense foam glued together. When we first tried to install the pre made upholstery it did not fit well, found out that a electric grinder works real well when trying to shape foam rubber, took a lot of material off at the rear corners (rounding and smoothing so the seat back would fold forward . Worked like a champ, but what a mess, little pieces of foam rubber all over the shop. Thought we would never get it all cleaned up. ha ha....... So my 66 GMC has what looks like a 61 Deluxe seat in it. Since it looked original I think it was OEM on my truck (everything else was) good to see the other pictures of different seat construction..... Oh by the by A company here in Tulsa has most of the Springs in Stock for older vehicles, I bought mine at American Trim and Upholstery supply, 918-834-6691 Last edited by kieth; 04-15-2014 at 09:48 AM. |

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
i recently bought a 66 project. Previous owner took bench seat out. I'm looking to go back to the bench. Any ideas as the best places to pick one up other than ebay?

Re: '64 Deluxe Seat
check out your local pick and pulls and your local craigslist. theres a few 60-66 parts vendors in colorado...should be pretty easy to source one.
