8 lug wheel options
I have the longhorn cst (c20) and it's an 8 lug. I've had a heck of a time finding good wheels. I see endless posts for Dodge, Ford, and duramax diesel wheels. They have the same bolt pattern, but is the offset, and hub size going to work?

Re: 8 lug wheel options
Hit up some of our rim vendors on here,I'm sure they can find you a set of aftermarket wheels for it.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
I just got a killer deal on a set of wheels that came off of an 08 duramax. I hope they work.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
You need to watch I believe it was in 08 that GM changes bolt patterns. On there 8 bolt trucks

They look cool. I know they switched recently. Good luck!

Re: 8 lug wheel options
So the bolt pattern and hub size is correct, but the tire rubs on the front of the bed fender, and they stick out an inch (offset)
A smaller profile tire would fix the rubbing, but how can I Bring them into the fender so I can tuck them when I lower it? |

Re: 8 lug wheel options
You can't. The wheels would need to be narrower or have more positive offset.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
What is the narrowest tire that will fit an 11in wide wheel. It has 335/50/22 now.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
I'm going to suggest a dually style hub for the rear. Can't help you on the front.
A 14 bolt dually hub will work also, but will need to have to be machined for the Eaton outer bearing. Then of course you'll have to get creative with your brakes. |

Re: 8 lug wheel options
How about narrowing the rear end a few inches?

Re: 8 lug wheel options
My thoughts as well. I'll be doing a bit of fabbing to lower it anyway. Problem is, I have never done it and am not sure I even have the tools to do so.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
You probably want a shop to do it. It has to be straight or you will ruin gears and bearings.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
I will likely be cheaper to sell off these wheels and buy another set that fix correctly then to have a shop narrow the rear end. My guess based on what I have heard is, shop is going to run you $800-$1000

Re: 8 lug wheel options
The dually hub that white dog mentioned would narrow it a couple inches per side.
Quote:
As far as those tires go, if the wheel is really 11" wide, there are not many more narrower or shorter options, especially not ones that are rated for a 3/4 ton truck. You are going to be MUCH better off reselling the wheels and looking for a new set.

Re: 8 lug wheel options
So as far as the dually hub goes, what would I be looking at for brakes?

Re: 8 lug wheel options
I'm not familiar with the Eatons from the 70's. So I don't really know what they used for brakes. I'm thinking you have drums mounted to the rear of the Hub?
You may try to go with a hat style drum. 14 Bolt would be another place to look. GM had a number of different drums. Look for the 13" drums from late 80's early 90's G30 vans. Another option is to go disc. There are kits out there that use Cadilac or K20 calipers. Then there is factory style disc, from what I found out, isn't all that expensive to do. I robbed a setup off of a 03 van, but the OEM setup from a 99 and newer truck isn't all that expensive. |
