disc brake kits

I'm about ready to buy a disc brake kit for my 67 GMC. I'm looking at disc brakes with 6 lug, 2" drop spindle, master cyl, power booster, prop valve, the whole deal. I'm getting ready to paint my crossmember and suspension, then re assemble it with new parts and the disc brake kit.

I've read about ECE, Classic Heartbeat, Tomsclassics on Ebay, TNT Motorsports and a bunch of others. Tomsclassics on Ebay seems to have the best price at $699.00. I really like dealing with Wes at Classic Heartbeat, but his price comes in at over $1,000.00 when you add in the power booster, master cyl and prop valve.

For those of you who have done the swap, did you use the kits? If so, what did your kit have that was really good, and what did it have that just didn't work right, or that was missing?

I've decided against using used parts off a newer truck for a number of reasons.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Re: disc brake kits

I used POL for mine, they are a vendor on this board. It's wilwood calipers with 2.5inch drop spindles and drilled and slotted rotors.

Re: disc brake kits

Big D's - the Perf Online kit is $919, but comes with upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends - looks like a pretty good deal, since I've gotta purchase that stuff as well. Was it a well put together kit? Any problems or complaints?

Thanks!

Re: disc brake kits

I see the POL kit comes with 1973-87 ball joints and tie rod ends. Do these bolt right in? Is there an advantage to using these?

I also see ads for a brake booster mounting kit- is there a bracket or plate needed to install the booster?

Thanks.
