Engine Bay:

Need a little help, the guy we bought my truck from did not take care of the truck, starting yesterday I opened the hood and started cleaning up all the hanging wiring in the engine bay and what not. After I moved all of his rigged up wiring re-grounding things and what not, it looks a lot better. Now I need to take it to the car wash and spray all the dirt and grease off, what areas should I avoid, and also what is a good degreaser to use to get gunk gone? Thanks!

Re: Engine Bay:

And if the grease is really bad a putty knife/spoon works well getting the initial grease off.

Re: Engine Bay:

Electrical stuff and the carburetor. I take aluminum foil and squeeze it around connectors and stuff just as a precaution.

Re: Engine Bay:

I'm so glad you started this thread, because I'm about to do the same thing to my engine bay in my truck (I just pulled the engine).

Re: Engine Bay:

I did the Purple power degreaser...let it set over nite, sprayed more in the morning, let it set a couple hours and then sprayed it again and then sprayed it with a pressure washer. I did it like that 2 days in a row

Re: Engine Bay:

Get the marine clean from por 15. That stuff will cut through any grease. You can also take it to a steam cleaner and get it spotless (and not get all dirty doing it) for around 100 bucks.
