Here's the front of mine. It has two little notches in the black cover which I suspect is where the plastic "GM" emblem would mount.
The little deal on the left screws into the dash hole to act as an anchor for the black face plate.

Notice the threads in the black cover which screw onto the little nub.

fyi-the one you have is complete, the one Blazerman was looking for is the fancier version, the GM face is chrome/black potmetal with a threaded stud on the backside. i've had both types and still have one like yours.
