Re: truck doesn't start

I hooked up a jumper wire from the + of the coil to the battery and the truck jumped.

Re: truck doesn't start

I got it running guys! So you guys were right, points were dirty. It had gummy oily gunk on it. I wiped it as much as I could with a paper towel and it started up! So whats the best way to clean it?

p.s.
I also found the small arm that connects the choke!

I think I didn't clean the points. What I cleaned was the motor shaft part that moves the point. However it looked like it wasn't even touching the point. Are those mechanical spring piece removable? If I can remove it I can see the points. As it stands now I can't see the points.

Re: truck doesn't start

Did you do anything else before or during? You might be able to spray some contact cleaner in there. Something that leaves no residue and dries quickly. Try doing a google/youtube search for disassembly. It's been decades since I've had to service a distributor, so I'm not much help there. Does the truck run OK, GOOD? Did you hook that linkage back up? Did you rewire the 'de'-choke?
