Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

Factory Posi unit for a gm truck 12 bolt, this unit is for 3.42 and lower carrier.(3 series carrier)
In very good condition these are getting hard to find for the lower gear ratio rearends.Outside bearings also seem to be in good condition also.
-$325 shipped($240 shipped) in CONUS paypal as gift or money order, buyer covers paypal fees (first I'll take it)
Thanks Brian

I will be listing more parts from my collection over the next couple of weeks trying to get my 71 shortbed project completed.

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

Very interested. Do you have the gear to go with it? I am looking to fix up a 1972 5 lug rear end. Is this correct for the 5 lug years?

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

Cjohnson this will work with the 5 lug or 6 lug 12 bolt truck rear.
I do not have the gears to go with it.

Thanks Brian

Thank you for the reply. I think I will pass and wait for a unit with gears. Good luck with the sale.

Bump back to the top for the seller. I'm have to pass as I need gears also.

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

just a question....This is for a 3 series rear correct?

3 series rears "can" go up to 3.73.

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

This unit will not work with 3.73,to use 3.73 you need the 4 series carrier. I dont know if they make any gears between 3.42 and 3.73 for the truck 12 bolt. In the catalogsThey list 3.42 and down.

I've got a 3.07 open 12 bolt on my 71. Will this bolt in to my existing rear?

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

Yes this will work with your rear,I bought it for my 71 but found a complete 3.73 posi rear end that I am going to install down the road.Probably best to have someone install it that's put one in before, might have to shim it and set backlash.

Thanks Brian

If someone steps up ahead of me go ahead and sell. I'll have to think about this for a while. Don't want to slow down your sell.

Re: Factory 12 bolt posi unit (3.42 lower carrier)

Do you happen to know what year this series 3 posi is from? Is it a Gov-Loc?

I think a 3.42 would be perfect for my application.

Thank you,

Bob

I have a 3:42 gear set that I will part with. It is in very good shape, with almost no wear pattern. I was going to use it, but am now looking for a 3:73 rear. I will get some pictures for you tonight. I will take $50 + shipping (it's heavy) or trade for a 3:73 gearset. PM me if you are intererested.

Bob I don't know the exact year it came out of but was going to use in my 71,pretty sure they used those 12 bolts from 1963 into the mid seventies. This is for a 3 series carrier. It is a GOV LOC.
Thanks Brian
