Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
I'm getting down to the wire and could use some ideas on putting my interior color scheme together. 58 GMC 150 4x4 (not Napco), painting it the new Dodge Challenger bright red. I don't think I'm doing two tone with a white top.
I'm going for a fairly stock look inside, no custom door upholstery. Red with white dash and door panels? Red with black or dark gray? Two tone seat? I'm going brain dead thinking about it. Anyone got pics to share?

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
Thanks Doug, that steel gray does look good! I also like the seat material...more comfortable in the summer than vinyl.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
Doug, I'm liking that color combo the more I look at it. Is that steel gray a metallic paint?

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
No, just a gloss dark steel gray color. It's the same gray on door panel as on top of dash. The light hits the color and it gives the appearance of different shades although identical. Exterior is same, too... bumpers, rims, grille, upper door frame.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
The gray looks good on the front end also. My 58 GMC chrome grill has some dings and rust. They quoted 1000.00 to repair and re-chrome it. I may decide to paint it steel gray also.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
My first thought was a steel-gun metal grey. Because it would look great with red and especially because it would lean towards the original-ish look you want. Another way to go would be more of a sandstone metallic. Kind of a fawn color like GM painted in a lot of interiors

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
Right...haven't thought of sandstone metallic. Would seem to go good with red as well.
A while back I was toying with the idea of doing a "western" themed truck, painting the truck a cream color with two tone saddle tan. I was going to have a saddle shop hand carve and buck stitch leather panels for the instrument cluster and door panels.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
We think alike. I have always wanted a western saddle style tooled leather seat in a truck. I had an adobe gold/buckskin int. (like a Palamino) '84 Silverado K/30 for my work truck in the late-80s that I had lettered and pinstriped western style. The C in Clearwater and Construction were chrome horseshoes and the rest was rope. The phone number was "picked" and there was a little sagebrush and a bull skull for accent below the letters. Just a little pinstripe in a few places that looked like boot stitching and a western sunset in the inset area of the tailgate. Ok...back to your truck!

Im partial to red and white myself. These trucks seem to really pop when they are painted red. IMHO.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
The white/red looks great...very vintage. So far, I'm leaning towards that dark steel gray metallic.

Re: Red 58 Interior Color Scheme Ideas
Yup, red makes'em pop! Stuck with the stock '55 colors for my interior, I really like ruby57's color scheme....
