Re: Isn't this a heck of a deal??

Now that's ironic , I posted a few pic's of this Cameo last year asking if anyone ever saw the side trim on the bed . As it turns out the trim is from a '59 Impala.

I wish him luck on getting the asking price.

Re: Isn't this a heck of a deal??

The price seems a little high, but it's a real BBW Cameo with (assumed) factory V8 so it might bring that much. I like that Impala trim and I think I'd leave it if I had the truck.

Re: Isn't this a heck of a deal??

Stock 55 Cameos shouldn't have any side trim on them by what I remember and find in a search for 55 Cameos.

I'm thinking Chevrolet didn't put side trim on them until 58.

9500 does sound high for a non running 55 even a Cameo. If it had a good running engine in it and you could test drive it around the block and drive it up on the trailer or drive it home it would come a lot closer to being worth that price.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Isn't this a heck of a deal??

'57 was the first year for side trim and continued into '58 when production ended mid year.

So the '58 Chevy Cameo was a rare beast, But even rarer is the GMC version.

The rarest of all is the GMC Palomino !

1st pic : '57 Cameo

2nd pic : '57 GMC Palomino

The Palomino was a one-off GM show vehicle if I remember correctly. There was a GMC version of the Cameo, a Carrier, maybe??

The GMC's were called "Suburban Carriers" from what I remember, also I dont remember seeing them with trim, must have been an option? here is a '58 in a sales add with no trim...

You must be right about it being a show vehicle. Look at the tag, it says "1 of one".

But he's been telling his wife he has been trying to sell it really hard and even the guys on the truck board are talking about the "rare" trim option on it. It hasn't sold because everyone who looks at it tries to beat him down on the price too much. At least that is what he is telling her.
