16.5 inch steel wheels

For some reason I can't post in the wanted section so I'm posting here. I'm looking for a set of four 16.5 inch factory steel wheels for my K20. ANy condition really but the key word here is cheap. Let me know what you got.

Well, that's lame...I could see maybe for for-sale ads, but to post a wanted ad to find a part for a hobby vehicle? Ridiculous. Well, I still need some rims so I guess this post will have to do.

Re: Not a "Wanted ad"

Ok ok...let me turn this into a "Does anyone know where I could find a set of 16.5 inch stock steel wheels?" thread.

Try junkyards or craigslist.

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

Where are you located? Shipping won't be cheap so it would help to know where you are. Do you want the standard 6.5" or the optional 8.25"?

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

I'm located in Washington state.
And further research shows that the stockers might not be the best deal for me. I'm trying to run 37" Humvee tires and I think the stockers wouldn't have the right back spacing. What I'm really after is a steel wheel that I could run Humvee 37"s that still accepts the factory dog dish hubcaps.

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

You didn't mention exactly where in Washington state you were located, but there are some 16.5 wheels for sale in the Four Lakes area advertised on the Spokane craigslist here: http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/4402988466.html

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

This is all news to me. I have never seen factory 16.5 wheels on anything newer than 75. Maybe ford or dodge wheels may still accept the stock hubcaps? I agree the Hummer tires would look nice on stock wheels with stock hubcaps. I hope you can pull it off.

My 79 k30 was factory ordered with 16.5 wheels, also backspacing needed on a 16.5 wheel would be a set of 16.5x9.75 rims to clear the military tires i beleive.

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

From what im told you can't buy 16.5 tires anymore. I have a lot of 16.5 wheels from my family's collection of Chevys but I never had interest in them because supposedly they discontinued the wheel and tire size.

You can still find them. Humvee 37x12.5x16.5 tires can be had for about $100 a pop.

I agree. It is ridiculous. I couldn't believe I had to pay to sell or buy. Needless to say I never did. I do my buying and selling on another site

I bought some used 16.5 x 9.75 wagon wheels cheap, and made some brackets to accept the factory hub caps.

1981sturgis - do you have a build thread? I would love to hear more about how you made the clips to hold the dogdish on, especially pictures.

Re: 16.5 inch steel wheels

I saw this thread and have to ask if anyone has one 16.5x9.75 wheels with the outer nubs they want to sell. I have three just looking for a fourth. I believe the backspacing is about 4.85 from what I measured.
