Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

I have replaced fuses, Bulbs.. The Gauges lights work..the indicator lights don't work, the right one flashes when I push the Turn signal lever down... Im lost here. There is a Fuse diagram under the dash where things are Grounded, could paint mess up a Ground? Where are the Grounds for this? Bad indicator housing maybe?

Could it be a bad printed circuit?

Gauges all work (I think)

Even the Dome light doesn't work..replaced that Bulb

I know some of you will say, Wiring diagram well I can't read them

So basically get a new Turn signal switch? I can hear it clicking though? On both sides

I grounded the Bar on the bed that holds the wood and the Frame, well almost got it done I then got distracted

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

maybe run a tester to the wire to see if your getting a current. I'm all about trial and error test every wire from the source and down if its clicking it could be a ground but are your brake lights working they run off a ground as well I believe

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

If its clicking, then the Switch is working I assume.

Dome light doesn't work

Where is all of this grounded?

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

you should try testing as mentioned above - it might be something v simple - if you have exhausted all you attempts at finding the problem them you might think about getting new parts , just my 02 cents worth

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

All the gauges work fine

Oil Reads 30
Temp Gauge, well its running over the line a hair? could it be because of the new Temp sending unit?

It runs but I can literally adjust the timing while its running..I need to get a rachet to it and tighten it down real good

Nope, the lamp and fitting on the dome are two prong so hot comes in and ground goes back out to the switch. Look at the attached diagram, dome ground is at the top, hot at the bottom. Purpose is so it can have variable level along with the instrument lights thru the coil resistor.

Also I do not have a factory turn signal wiring diagram, so no help there, but you should be able to test for inputs and output to see if it is the switch or wiring to the various lamps and indicators.

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

On most chevy engines the oil gauge works like a tach, high when cold, low at idle after getting heated up, moving to middle off idle. 30# is fine, its not a race engine designed for higher pressure. Best way to calibrate the temp gauge is to bring it up to full temp and measure the water temp in the radiator with the thermostat open. Rad will read a little cooler than the head sensor location.

Re: Dash lights not working? 59 Gmc

Well I cleaned the grounds....checked fuses...hell the indicator lights still don't work

It couldn't be the Lens housing could it?

The Speedometer cable won't come undone where the Transmission is? Its pissing me off, I've sprayed WD-40 on it...Still nothing, I've tried pliers
