48 Loadmaster
Looking at a 48 Chevy Loadmaster. I'm a 67-72 guy so these are new to me. It runs and drives good. The hoist works too. It needs a couple pieces of glass. Im wondering what will interchange. This will start at a farm truck for us, so no high dollar parts. Just want to get it legal and fully operational. Once I get it home i'll put up some pics....

Which Loadmaster 1 1/2 ton, 2 ton or COE? Cab glass is the same for all. Cabs are the same except for COE and most of it is the same. Chassis is different all the way.

The entire front clip is different, it's longer, wider, and taller. Like 47 said everything for the cab is the same unless it is a COE then you need special parts or some reworking. The good news is the big truck parts are often cheaper due to this and you can use all 1/2 ton parts if needed.

Its not the COE. Not sure if 1 1/2 or 2 ton. Didnt see a model number on the body. I'll get the a vin and check into it.

3100, 3600, and 3800 trucks have the same sheet metal. The 3800 has a different radiator mount. That's about it.
The 4000 and bigger trucks have different fenders and hoods. Grilles should be the same. The 3800 trucks have the same frame dimensions and the bigger trucks. It's just a lighter weight steel and not as tall in critical areas. So it's possible to put the cab, fenders, etc.. on a 3800 chassis. |

The tag should still be on the driver's door post with the gross vehicle weight. My 1-1/2 ton has a 14,000 gvw if that helps.
It sounds like one to make a nice presentable truck out of that you can use hoist and all. You need to haul off all the branches and what not from spring yard cleaning, no problem load it on, haul it to the dump and hit the lever and away you go easily unloaded. Throw a few bails of straw on the back and you can haul the kids ball team or scout troop though the local parade in style. It's even good for hauling new truck projects home and hauling the remnants of the donor rigs off to the scrap yard in a timely fashion.

Immediate plans are hauling junk out and gravel for the driveway in. Needs some brake work and a couple pieces of glass.
Most of the lights work and it starts really good. Needs tires too, but I got another truck with it that has decent tires. I'll get some pics of it when I get it home

At least it has a 235 instead of a 216.
It could even be a 261, which would be great for a working truck. |

261's will have a 3/8" oil line feeding a full flow oil filter.
