1967 Frame off Resto
4.20
Well I guess I posted in the wrong section. Anyway here is the start of my obsession!! 1967 LWB rear leaf suspension, frame is nice and straight. the rest of her is in sad shape but nothing that cant be fixed. Plans are as follows 4.8 with small turbo (always wanted a turbo truck) 4l60e or 4L80e Don't plan on beating up on the truck on a daily basis. Will be a cruiser but have balls to get it when need be. Take it down to the frame and set the cab and bed aside for later. Convert from long to short Should be able to this Sunday Convert from drum to disk maybe do the rear also Will either sandblast the frame or just go over with my grinder and wire wheel Getting upper A-Arms built by a local builder 2" drop spindle and a 2" drop coil Rear flip kit but may put a lift shackle because i want a rake to the truck. Have to do more research on it. Gas tank Mustang? Suburban? fuel cell? I know I don't want it in the bed. New fuel lines New brake lines Last edited by mcm1209; 05-01-2014 at 09:40 AM. |

When I bough the truck i paid $400 for it with a title. I knew it had rot so i figured if i can save something it would be a plus. I almost bought a frame with no title for $350. So im a little ahead by having the title and I saved a bunch of small parts that can be refurbished. As you can see by the pic I ended up with a frame and a title. See how much I get back from the scrap yard for the rest of the truck. The 64 in the pic is a friend of mines. I put in a rebuilt 283 in it for him. Going to do a disk brake conversion on it also. |

Re: 1967 Frame off Resto
Some progress and traded my 110 welder for a 220 welder to weld up the frame.

Re: 1967 Frame off Resto
Thanks guys!
I'm giving myself a year and a half to finish (at least have it running). Not being able to use the cab and sheet metal is a set back but im not disappointed about it. |

Re: 1967 Frame off Resto
Set up the welder yesterday and grabbed some scrap pieces of metal i had lying around and started practicing. I'm very impressed with the welder it self, but have to keep practicing so i can weld up the frame this weekend.

Re: 1967 Frame off Resto
How much did you have to cut out to make it short? I'm going to have to do that too.
