Re: So blindly enraged right now!
You don't need a new tank, just weld the hole shut.

Re: So blindly enraged right now!
Thats what I was thinking.
To go to all the trouble of bringing tools to vandalize your air tank, it has to be someone you know or have delt with...random vandals scratch paint or bust windows, this person has a vendetta against you. You best look into who it was to head off the next attack.

Re: So blindly enraged right now!
The tank is an aluminum SCBA tank (Scott Air Pak). It would cost me more to have it welded and pressure tested thank it would to just buy a new tank. Already thought about that one. I agree about the idea of someone bringing tools with them. Only part I look at on the bright side, is that they chose to cut the air lines, and not the brake lines. I may not have actually realized that one until it was too late (I've checked them thoroughly). Also, I live in a neighborhood that is only partially built. We have contractors in and out all day long. The funny part is, as a police officer, I'm the one that always lets people off with a warning. I'm usually the NICE cop.....
I really feel like, and keep coming back to, the 13yo home schooled kid in my neighborhood down the road. He used to terrorize the neighborhood, but always left me and my house alone. Had to draw down on him the other night as I was getting home from work. It was dark, he was in the front of his house setting off fireworks in a coffee can at 10PM. Sounded like shots fired as I was getting out of my patrol car. Since then, neither he nor his mother have even looked in my direction (Dad's not around). Ah well....Needless to say, the truck is back in the garage. Once I get a new tank, and get her back moving, I can go dump those palm fronds and be done with this mess! Funny part is that nobody messed with my Nova in the driveway, or my SUV on the street. Just the C10...

It's a shame we don't live closer together. I'm an ICU nurse, I could keep 'em alive for you for quite a while.

If you catch him, you might have to pull out your nightstick and give him a wood shampoo! Sorry to hear about your truck being damaged.

I would be paranoid that they could of put something the gas to blow the motor. But that's just me .

Re: So blindly enraged right now!
As a retired police det I feel your pain, the good news is your tank can be welded and saved not just discarded. Maybe even drill it where they did and install a schrader valve for fill ups at home, saves wear on small compressor.

Re: So blindly enraged right now!
Really bad stuff here. Cutting the lines is some what normal vandalism, but drilling a hole in the tank is bizarre to say the least.

Oh man that sucks. I hope they get what's coming to them. I hate people that would steal from someone that bust their back side day in and out to provide for themselves and their family.

Re: So blindly enraged right now!
Well, on the bright side, a buddy gave me $100 to buy a tank, in exchange for engine work I did for him. I didn't ask for it, and never would, but for whatever reason, he was ceiling generous today! Now I can get a nice aluminum tank and some front sleeve bags from Way2Lo. Happy day!
