97 4 Door Tahoe rear windows

Is it possible to make the rear door windows go down more than 5"? I don't have small kids anymore and I know this is a safety "feature", but I would like some more wind passing thru them if possible.

I don't think it's a saftey issue. The suburbans and crew cab trucks had rear windows that go down the whole way.

The reason they don't go down far is because there is not enough room in the door shell for the window to fit. The tahoe/Yukon have a cutout in the door for the wheel well. The crew cab trucks and suburban do not.

^ This. The whole "child safety" thing with rear windows not rolling down on any car is just a myth. In reality, it's just design limitations. Unfortunately the '95-'99 4-door Tahoes and Yukons are the absolute worst I have ever seen. If they would have designed a small quarter window in the rear side of the window frame, they could have gotten them to roll down farther. If you don't have the ability to do that (let's face it, who does?) you'll either have to live with it or replace your Tahoe with a Suburban.

I am surprised they designed it that way. The 4 door s10 blazers/jimmys had the small quarter window, and the rear window will roll down the whole way. I don't know why they wouldn't put one on the Tahoe/Yukon
