update on first time installing distributor
tried one more trick today,pulled distributor out turned it one tooth counter clockwise the 509 started right up and ran great,[thanks boog] but then i could not shut it off,had to install a inline diode on alternator.now the oil pressure gauge is pegged so far over i can't see the needle and also the speedometer reads 5 to 10 mph.in neutral.
