Mystery Part
So, I have this part thats not fixed to anything and when I depress the button when the truck is running...nothing happens. It was found sitting right on top of the brake booster and wasnt fixed to any part of the truck. I havent been able to run where the wires actually go to so I dont know if they're actually plugged in or not. The previous owner did a lot of half-ass electrical jobs so for all I know this button ran the subwoofer which is stuck under my seat... So far nobody has been able to identify it. Any help is much appreciated.

That is a T400 kickdown switch with either a home made or modified bracket

What they said. TH400 kickdown switch. Here's a picture as originally installed on my 69 with a 350. Used on trucks prior to 1971 when they changed to the cable accelerator linkage, I believe.

Hmm, okay, my next stupid question is where is it supposed to be and when would this come into play? I'm just starting to learn about my truck so this is new to me. I apologize for my ignorance in advance. I Googled the subject and didnt find anything that increased my understanding.
-edit: Thanks FirstOwner 69 for the pic. I'll definitely have to check and see if there is a bracket near the carb where this thing is supposed to be. |

I can't tell from your picture if that's the correct mounting bracket. If it is, it appears to be bent 90 degrees from the way it was made.
