292 engine mounts for '57 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've been out of the loop for awhile but I'm trying to get going again on my 1957 3800. It currently has a 235 (6) but I'd like to put in a 292 (6). Anybody know of a source for engine mount kits to do this swap? Any advice will be appreciated.

I just started down this road myself. I'm swapping a 292 into a '51. After speaking with George at Chassis Engineering, we put together a mount package that should work. It's an unusual setup because the engine mounts in the 292 are not in line with each from side to side. The driver's side is 16" from the back of bellhousing and the passenger's side is 20". I will be starting on this in the next week or so and can post pics as I go along. If you want to call George, his number is 319.643.2645.

I'm doing the same thing in my 48 and am planning on building pieces that bolt to the regular mount bolt holes on the sides of the block and run straight out to where they will sit on a biscuit style mount that is on another bracket mounted to the frame.

I used stock type mounts with some brackets on it with the 250 and that is the ugliest mess that I ever saw under a hood. It was only intended to be there for three months when I did it in 1989 and it's still there.

I got my set up for my 292 from langdons stove bolt I used it in a 54 Chevy belair

Tom used to sell the Chassis Engineering mounts. His website directs you to CE for the motor mounts now and that is how I found them.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
