1968 c30 4wd conversion

I've been thinking about a 4wd swap in my 68...any info/ideas/specs? Would a k20 chassis work?

Re: 1968 c30 4wd conversion

I have searched 4wd conversion but didn't come up with anything other than some wanting to do the same. Never came across a thread that showed the actual build of one and how to convert over. Would be interesting to read and see the pics of one that has done a C30 to K30 build. Maybe I am not using the right key words.

I "think" what you would want is a 73-87 K30 frontend swap.

Re: 1968 c30 4wd conversion

I did a 68 C30 frame to K30 for my crew cab.

I used a lot of stock K20 parts, i.e. leaf hangers and some Diy4x and ORD parts to hang the leafs/axles etc.

The rear portion of a C30 frame (at least the 156" wheelbase) is a lot taller and kicks up higher than the 10/20 frames… and, therefore, you may need a body lift on the cab to match up with a bed placed on the rear frame. (Unless you go with a flat bed, for example.)

Sadly, I lost my bare frame photos so I can't show you what I mean.

I sold the crew cab a few months back, also.

Re: 1968 c30 4wd conversion

Friend of mine did a C-10 2WD to 4WD suspension & components swap on a '71.

Sorry no photos. Turned out nice, but:

He said "Never - NEVER - EVER again !!!!!!"

Felt like it would have been way-easier to do a body-swap onto a 4 WD frame
