Re: Bed Mounted Fuel Filler

This is what I did with mine. Doesn't interfere with anything you carry in the bed or on the bed floor. You hit the ideal pump location every time you drive up and just comfortably stand there while you fill.

Nice set up. I like that. Which tank did you use?

Re: Bed Mounted Fuel Filler

Here's a friends beautiful Cheyenne he built, same fill install only located on the Drivers side, you can do it on either side.

I'm an old guy with aging vision and it was easiest for me to glance over my right shoulder pulling in and see the best line up with any gas station's pump. Super nice also with bad knees to not have to bend down either while filling.

Tim used LMC's Suburban tank 21 gallons and did design, build and weld in custom rings to accommodate OEM GM in tank fuel pump and fuel level sender group. You design your routing for the main fill line and use two rubber hoses (gasoline rated of course) and have your local muffler shop bend you a steel pipe section in 1-1/2" (gas hose size) and then put it together. We figured (common sense design) anywhere the fill line might be subject to flying rocks, mud, weather in or around the wheel wells is where the single steel pipe routing was used, keeping the rubber hoses are only located in protected areas at the tank and at the steel fill neck.

Re: Bed Mounted Fuel Filler

Very nice work! Where did you source the round formed piece around the filler cap?

Re: Bed Mounted Fuel Filler

We got them from our local u-pick-it wrecking yard, back in the section where they have motor-homes. That piece is common to RVs of all types, and they accept / fit a lot of different fill necks and caps too.
