De-painted my SPID
I successfully got a couple layers of paint off my glovebox and found my SPID, not done but enough to get most of it, looks like somebody tried to scrape it off at some point, so it's sketchy. maybe you guys can help. I am partial to orange, would have kept it that in a restore, and I have seen evidence of OCHRE (which I don't hate, but not particularly fond of) up under the dash, but somehow after seeing it in print on the SPID, I feel a slight compulsion to bring it back to original. Not sure. Factory black top (!), and I THINK skid plate (!).
Here are the pictures followed by what I think I see or am able to decode: left side - unknown - front wheel locking hubs - 350 cid v8 engine - skid plate ????? - unknown - unknown - cigarette lighter - gauge, ammeter, oil - Ochre right side - rear seat - posi trac - Turbo Hydramatic - power steering - unknown - heavy duty battery - AM pushbutton radio - Removable hardtop, black - Black vinyl trim

Re: De-painted my SPID
Always good info to have...but it's your truck build what you want, although ochre is a really cool color...

Re: De-painted my SPID
Too easy!
Now all you need to do is fill in the VIN. Then find the two vehicle specifc numbers missing (more cleaning). First is the sequence number normally found just to the left of the SPID part number in the top right corner. Second, if applicable, is the "ORDER NO." posted as the last line of the right description column. If you want to look in those places and provide me with the information I can add it if you prefer. But as it stands you are very close to being able to send it off to Jeff (chipflyer) for one of his nice reproductions.

Re: De-painted my SPID
Post up a picture and let me see what you are working with. Can't help as much if I can't see it. There is a difference between having general information and as printed on the SPID.

Finally you need to decide if you want it to restore to "as built". The options are good but it was a basic utility buckets no console interior, no frills ride. Either way you go having the SPID information saved is a great bit of history to preserve.

Re: De-painted my SPID
Close enough just a couple of blanks left, pretty sure you can handle those. :-)
