1954 Chevy Pick Up with Camaro Front Clip - Need help on how to install front bumper

Hey Fellas,

I have a 1954 Chevy pick up that has a Camaro front clip on it and I am looking for pictures or information on how you have installed your front bumper and mounts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am so disappointed that no one has helped you. You see, I get beat up for my stance on frame swaps and subframe grafts like this. I think they should be avoided at all costs and I warn against it (I have done one). I get beat up yet no one is here to explain to you how easy this is.

I never got that far with mine, changed my mind and sold it and bought a stock frame. But anyway, The best way to do it would be to get under the truck with a stock bumper held in place setting on some blocks of wood on the floor. Have the brackets bolted to the bumper and in place. Bolt to the brackets a piece of rectangular tubing or channel (just as the frame was) going back to your new frame. Now, make templates out of cardboard connecting the tubing to the new frame. Using the templates make the same pieces out of metal, be it flat stock or tubing and flat stock or what ever and weld it in place, wham, you have a front bumper mounted to your truck.

This has a few ideas that look pretty good. I have seen it many different ways, most of the time not very pretty. This one looks damn good.

I've never done one, but to add to Brian's comment, I assume you will have the front clip on to check for body interference and get the height and depth right.

I wish I wasn't out of town or I'd post a pic. However, the pic posted above looks nicer than mine. I welded a crossmember from one frame horn to the other and added stubs to bolt the bumper brackets to. It's a must to have the front clip on, then you can pull that bumper in a little and make it look better.

Here's the pictures i have, the rails you bolt the bumper brackets to are shorter than you would have them for a stock bumper location,because i mounted my bumper closer to the body

Mine was set up pretty much the same as MartinSr did on his except I had a rear steer subframe . I used 1-1/2 inch angle iron on mine as that was what I had in the shop at the time.
