A new 1 bbl?
My 71 has got a 250, and sat for 15 years, and you can imagine the crud built up in the carb! I got it running, the float bowl is cracked, and the adjuster screw has no threads! Has anyone seen a rebuilt rochester? what are some sites that I should try? I just want to keep it simple...for now!

Re: A new 1 bbl?
Rock Auto has them for 125.00 if you send your core back, 174.00 if you don't...
Actually - it looks like the 125.00 price is if you ship yours in to be rebuilt.

Re: A new 1 bbl?
I bought a rebuilt one about 18 yrs ago and wound up having to take it back couple of times. Finally gave up and started doing it myself. I picked up a couple used ones on ebay for under $30 each and rebuilt them.
Also, be aware that some companies won't accept one that's not rebuildable.

Re: A new 1 bbl?
I haven't been very impressed with parts store rebuilds - in the interest of cutting down on part numbers, a lot of those big rebuilding houses mix and match parts from all sorts of different years and often end up with carbs that are a drivability nightmare. I rebuilt my first carb in my parents' basement at 18 with no idea what I was doing, and had better results than many "professionally" rebuilt carbs. Either overhaul it yourself, or find a local carb guru who can take care of it for you. I wouldn't touch a parts store rebuilt carb.
